Five Forks Middle School
Lawrenceville, GA | Gwinnett County

Five Forks Middle school has to be the most proved school in the State. They are amazing! Test scores are up. Tops in Gwinnett in several areas . Math and reading scores are very high. The teachers and administrators recognize the importance of "the middle school experience " and have added before school and after school school activities that allow kids (and parent volunteers ) to connect .

When I was a student at Five Forks, I excelled in 6th grade math, and was placed in accelerated math for the remainder of my education. Several years later, I'm not pleased with the quality of education at Five Forks. My brother outperformed his classmates in his standard classes and earned perfect scores on his CRCTs. He was even approached by Duke University for the Duke Tip. However, our parents contacted the school in order for him to be placed in a Probe class(es). The school denied him the opportunity to take these classes because he wasn't in the Focus (gifted) program during elementary school. Also, he received very few awards during the award ceremony because each teacher can pick only one student per class even though his teachers praised his work in front of the entire class.

I just got out of 8th grade. (Thank god) And the 3 years I've experienced were TERRIBLE!!! 8th grade was the worst. All the teachers care about is GRADES GRADES GRADES and HARDLY care about the students and more than half of them think that having a C in something is just the worst thing ever. While the students don't care about doing well at all. It takes FOREVER just to get students to SHUT UP AND LISTEN, like not talking is SOOO hard. There were tons of people in ISS or detention and they just laugh it off. There is drama EVERYWHERE and these people are NOT open to new friends. Students lie and sneak a around ALL the time. I DO NOT recommend this school to ANYONE.

I was a student here in the gifted program in all three years. I love LOVE LOVE the teachers as they were so informative and actually taught WELL. These teachers still are one of my favorites even out of high school. I scored extremely high on the CRCTs because the teachers had different ways of presenting the curriculum to us and effectively testing us on it. Administration wasn't that great over their however, at least when I was there. They let some things go way too far before actually doing anything and by then there really was no point. I haven't been there in a while but I hope they change administration. If your child excels in school and doesn't have any disciplinary problems, this is the school to go to! I was also involved in running club and band, both of which I have continued into Brookwood High School

I notice when you don't have alot of positive things to say, they remove your post so I will just keep it simple and sweet and leave out the details. Apprently that was what they didn't like on my last post and I DID follow all of the posting/review rules. No names or any personal info was added, just the facts. So here ya go. I am somewhat happy with this school. My children received the social development that they need but not the education they deserve. There is absolutley NO parent involvement. If you are new to this school. You will soon find that out. However I do believe they care very much for the children.Submitted by a parent

Five Forks Middle School - My grandchild attneds this school. I pick her up from school in the afternoons. When she gets in the car, I always ask her "how was your day" she always says, "Today was the best the ever". Coming from a private school, I was very nervous that she may not adjust as well. She has great friends, she is being challanged. We compare what she is learning with the friends we have at the private school and they are learning the same and at times, my grandchild is ahead of what the private school is teaching. There is no need for private school if you live in the Gwinn Oaks ES, Five Forks MS and Brookwood HS area. Save that money for college. I am very pleased with the decision my daughter and son-in-law made...to stop paying tutition and enroll her at FFMS. As a grandmother, I want the best for my grandchildren, and she is getting the best at Five Forks MS.

Fantastic school. The new administration is stellar. The community truly embraces this school and it is a joy to see teachers truly happy to see their students succeed.Submitted by a parent

This is my third year at Five Forks MS as a parent. My kids enjoy going to school every day, and feel challenged. I have been very happy with the majority of my children's teachers. The orchestra program is great; there are a number of different clubs for the students to choose from. With a new principal this year, there is a whole new atmosphere at the school. The administrators make parents feel welcome at the school. I look forward to another two years there.Submitted by a parent

School is clean and orderly. Teachers care and work hard. Academically the students who are average seem to get lost in the shuffle. If you aren't in PROBE, the curriculum seems to teach to the lowest common denominator. Administration is NOT parent friendly or inclusive, and often non-responsive.Submitted by a parent

I am a seventh grader at Five Forks and I absolutely love it here! All of my teachers this year have been AMAZING and even the staff members all around are a joy. I am going to have a hard time leaving when I end eigth grade and move on to Brookwood. If you're looking for a middle school, Five Forks is your best choice.Submitted by a student

I am so sad for my child having to miss out on some of the most important memoties and events of Middle School because Five Forks simply doesn't have it to offer. There are no Dances, no class trips, no Cap and Gown Graduation, no class rings, no Science Fairs. No debate teams, no real foreign language classes (only a mini intro spanish course for some kids), Beta club is only for 8th graders, There is no sports like you see at most other schools: no soccer, no in school football team, no tennis, no volleyball, no cross country, no golf, no swimming, no track, no wrestling. Only basketball for 8th grade. This is pathetic for it being a pretty wealthy area. As you can see there is not much going on for the students here. Even the student council is chosen by teachers...kids can't campaign. Check out other schools first!!Submitted by a parent

My high-achieiving (99% nationally), motivated, emotionally-stable, and promising student asked to be removed and put somewhere so his 'education would be taken seriously'. Our parental involvment with our children pales to none. My child had to deal with bullying at every turn, with very little help from the administration and a non-challenging curriculum. My child was appauled at the amount of violence, drug involvement, sexual harassment and was distressed at the lack of assistance from the administration. The band is a good program. The insights a parent gains form reading he reviews on Great Schools is a wonderful tool to decide what choices you want to make concerning your childs educational experience. The parents that take the time to use this resource are parents that honestly care enough to share to help other parents. This school does not live up to the hype parents in the area are fed.Submitted by a parent
